7 Lessons from Tesla to creatives
Nikola Tesla was an inentor, electrical engineer and physicist.
Telsa spent a great portion of his life alone with his word.
By not marrying he used all of his time and energy to create.
He made interesting remarks regarding creativity and the creative process.
7 lessons for creatives:
- You must be sane to think clearly.
There is a big difference between thinking deeply and thinking clearly. Generally, deep thinkers tend to be stuck in their heads, unaware of what’s happening around them.
The scientists of today think deeply instead of clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane.”Nikola Tesla
Excessive thinking can lead to mental illness, depression and anxiety. Clear thinkers however have a well developed sense of awareness. They can focus themselves in the present moment very well.
Doing this requires a sane, or how I would call it: still mind.
A still mind gives creativity room to grow.
2. Solitude is the secret of invention.
Ideas are mostly born when you are alone. Isn’t it true when most of your Eureka moments happen alone in the shower, on lone walks, or laying in bed by yourself?
When you want to create it is important to spent time alone.
Be alone, that is the secret of invention. Be alone, that’s when ideas are born.Nikola Tesla
3. Great inventors are not married.
I do not think you can think of great inventions who have been married, said Tesla.
Staying single will grant you an abundance of time, since there is no one asking for attention or affection.
4. Great things are ridiculed, condemned, combated and supressed.
Humans are naturally inclined to fear the unknown.
Throughout history we’ve seen many people being critical in regards to new inventions: tv, the internet. Robotics and artificial intelligence would be the equivalent of today.
5. Human’s greatest thrill is successful creativity
I do not think there’s any thrill that can go through the human heart …
6. Creativity comes from receiving.
You cannot will yourself into creativity, but with willpower you can create an environment for creativity to unfold and flourish.
According to Tesla, creativity comes from a universal core.
My brain is only a receiver. In the universe there is a core from where we
7. Invention is the creative brain’s most important product.
Without the creative brain, we’d still be linving in the stone age.
It is because of our creative brain that we were able to jump.
Invention is the most important product of a brain
